In case you haven’t seen it yet, here is the debut single off Mona Haydar’s upcoming album.
Mona Haydar is a new independent Muslim artist, and she made headlines last year when she launched the #AskAMuslim initiative.
Currently, Haydar is a seminary student in New York City.
The message of this song according to Mona is: “lightweight petty with notes of royalty and hints of hood.”
She’s representing Michigan, her home state, with this song.
Part of the proceeds from this track will be channelled back into Flint to help with the ongoing effort to get clean water to Flint residents.
What are your thoughts? Are you happy to see a hijabi song by a woman for a change?
