I recently took my youngest to the dermatologist, because she had developed a small rash around her mouth.
The rash comes and goes and I figured it was some kind of allergy.
The dermatologist recommended some creams and said we may want to try a steroid cream.
I decided to look up some natural alternatives, because I know that steroid creams, particularly on the face can make things a lot worse when they are stopped.
I’m still of the belief that she’s having some kind of allergic reaction, possibly due to the really high pollen and mold we’ve had this season. Or maybe it’s something she’s eating.
That being said, I did some research and found that fluoride and sodium laurel sulfates are common allergens that can cause the symptoms I’ve seen.
Immediately I went and bought soap, shampoo, toothpaste, lotion etc. that didn’t have these ingredients in them.
I’ll share the items with you throughout the next few weeks.
My first focus, is on the toothpaste:
Even though I bought it for the kids, I’m also using it now. I have no complaints and after a recent dental visit, all seems to be good!
The toothpaste advertises the following:
No Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulfates
No Artificial Colors
No Artificial Sweeteners
No Propylene Glycol
What I found interesting, is that most toothpastes have a ton of chemicals, including one that makes the paste that gleaming white color.
I’m trying my best to do small changes to live a healthier lifestyle, and this is just one way I can do it.
What kind of toothpaste do you use? Do you think it’s important to find healthier and more natural ingredients?
