Simple hijab friendly work wear in coral

I’m usually a pants and shirt girl when it comes to work.

I think it’s a habit I developed over the years, because as a reporter, I never know when I’m out on assignment if I’ll have to chase someone down for comment.

And let me tell you, if you’re in heels and decked out to the nines, you’re not going to get that scoop.

But, every now and then I let go of that worry that I’ll be running down the city streets tripping over myself, and bust out a skirt.

I realized as I put my outfit together, it was a bit too much black and of course I didn’t pay attention to the weather and the fact that the heat was going to be nearing 100 degrees. But, I love heat, so it’s not that big of a deal to me. However, I wanted to add some color so the outfit would have a bit of my personality added to it.

coral top and black skirt

Nevermind the blurriness of the photo above.. I’m attributing it to the fact it was really humid out and fogging up the lens.

Trying my best to be casual cool.. not sure if that’s working here.

I decided I should show you the flats I was wearing, because the skirt is so long it cover them.

My favorite part about this top is that it’s what they call “business in the front and party in the back”. I’m all for unique and interesting pieces.
Of course now that I’ve gotten used to this top and figuring out how to hijabify the sleeveless part… I noticed this style is now being made with long sleeves.. go figure!

Jodi, thanks for the comment 🙂
I’ll have to double check, I meant to write it in the post lol. I’m glad you like the cosmetics. I’ll bring them back hopefully in the near future. I’ve been so busy with my full time job 🙁

The whole outfit is nice! You are so stylish and put pieces together so nicely Mariam! I will have to check out your hijabs, Jersey is such a good fabric, nice and cool! What Essie color did you pair with the outfit? Also, whatever happened to your cosmetic line!? I’m still enjoying the lip gloss and check/lip color! 🙂
