Last weekend my husband and I as well as our two little rugrats, went to my visit my family.
While we were there I decided I really had a craving for Shish Barak and that we should make it!
It is very similar to the Turkish dish Manta.
You take dough, roll it out, and cut out circles. Then you fill them with meat. And you boil them in yogurt that’s mixed with a little water, salt and cornstarch to thicken it. You can also add mint or garlic to make it more flavorful.
I learned how to make shish barak by watching my mother in law and my husband’s aunt make it. They were visiting from overseas a few years ago.
It’s so tasty and perfect for iftar in Ramadan!
