Cutting back

Lately, I’ve been trying to spend less, put more into my savings. I haven’t been shopping in a few months, and that’s been going pretty well.
But, the area where I spend most of my extra money seems to be when my friends want to do something. It’s all little things here and there: Going out for lunch, having a nice dinner when everyone is free. A few trips to restaurants and it adds up on the credit card bill.
So, how do you stop that kind of spending? I don’t want to stop seeing my friends. It’s just easiest, usually, to go eat somewhere or head out to a movie than to try to come up with something free to do.
Anyone have any suggestions for some low-cost hanging out options? Otherwise, I may just have to become a hermit for a few months.

  1. Asalamualaikum,
Well, I meet up with my friends at parks. We walk and talk. Or you could have a picnic and everyone brings a dish and shares.
    Just some ideas!

  2. Meet up with your friends at home and watch a movie rented from the library- with a pot luck dinner :) Or meet up at an art gallery or a museum on free days…after all, its getting together that is important.
