Two weeks ago I saw a casting call for a music video that was shooting here in Chicago and decided to submit myself to it. (When you submit yourself that means you basically send the casting director your headshot and resume for a specific role they are looking for).
I ended up getting an audition time and went in a few days later. The director was there and he had me improvise a few things.
In the past, I would get a little nervous beforehand, and then kind of try to fumble my way through. It was like my mind would be telling me “DO SOMETHING” and my body would just stand still.
Studying improv has helped me tremendously. I didn’t feel nervous because I went with my instincts this time and just did what I felt the director was asking me to do
Several days later I got a call and was told that I got the part!
This past weekend I went to the music video shoot to do my part and was lucky that I also got to include my two girls. My oldest daughter was so thrilled that she said she wants to “be on TV” again. Hmm child star in the making? lol
The musician was very humble and down to earth and the crew was extremely nice. I can’t say anything else about the music video right now, but whether or not I make it in the final product, it was a wonderful experience and I can’t wait to see how the whole thing comes together.
As soon as I get the green light, you can be sure that I’ll post the video here!
