Some of these may seem a little obvious, but if your place is feeling a little funky, chances are you may need to get the air inside cirulating!
If you’re in a home or apartment where you can’t always open the windows, these tips may help.
- Vacuum regularly (try to use a vacuum with HEPA filters)
- Place baking soda in the bottom of all garbage cans in the house
- Try to find a natural air freshener spray (we love the orange essence
one by Air Therapy ) A few spurts here and there can do
wonders.

- Make sure to keep your fridge in check. Letting fruits and veggies linger too long (not to mention leftovers)can leave you with some obnoxious odors.
- Line your shelves with lightly scented dryer sheets (or use a sache with some essential oils).
- Regularly air out your bathroom. Hot showers can create musty mildew and the scent isn’t the only thing that’s bothersome, mildew is not good to breathe.
If you don’t have a bathroom vent or fan, try to reduce the heat from your shower and always keep the door open afterward. - Find some candles (we recommend soy) to light up when you’re cooking with some heavy smells (i.e. onions/garlic/fish or anything involving frying) the candle helps to take away some of the odor and your guests will be happy not to smell like a frying pan when they get home.

- Keep shoes out of the way by placing them in a space where you can close the door (i.e. closet, special drawer). Feet usually mean there will be some smell, so save everyone’s noses and hide them. If your shoes are too smelly, it may be time to replace them.
Do you have any special techniques you use to keep your place smelling good?

Hi, My techniques that I use to keep shoes from smelling is to wash them instead of replacing them. Because with this economy, not everyone can afford to buy shoes, so I wash them and let them air dry or spray odor eaters in them or use frebreeze.
House- I use those Lysol spray thingys that go off about every half hour. I have one in the bathroom and living room.
Kitchen- When cooking I open up a window and usually that takes care of any lingering smells.
